JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: Accounting

TITLE: Senior Accountant

EFFECTIVE DATE: December 1, 2023

APPROVED BY: CEO

RESPONSIBLE TO: Controller

SALARY RANGE: $78,115.26 - $102,752.00 

EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-Exempt

WORK HOURS: M-F, 8 am to 5pm

Qualifications

Position requires solid analytical, organization, and communication skills; Must possess the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines within an accounting environment; Must have strong knowledge with Excel spreadsheets; Be able to compose routine to difficult documents; Must have knowledge of Accounting Principles and Standards

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years experience in accounting is required.

Education

 Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Accounting.

Examples of Duties

  • Perform reconciliations for general ledger including various asset and liability accounts. Review, research, and prepare adjusting Journal entries for account discrepancies as needed.
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintain 842 lease schedules on a monthly basis.
  • Perform all month-end journal entries including accruals. 
  • Review financial statements, analyze expenses, and provide explanations for budget vs. actual variances.
  • Assist in budget preparation.
  • Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets.
  • Prepare financial analyses and reports as needed.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist in reporting to federal and other regulatory agencies on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Prepare analysis for management as needed.
  • Assist with year-end inventory.
  • Assist with year-end audit.
  • Assist with various projects.
  • Actively participate in all training, educational sessions and meetings.
  • Cash collection – check in/out cash bags and conduct cash counts.
  • Maintain electronic storage of all documents

Additional Responsibilities

  • A/R Management of 340b Pharmacies
  • Operating Expense analysis.
  • Reconcile bank statements.
  • Cross trained in salary and benefit entries/analysis.
  • Serve in a Leadership role for other staff within the accounting department.
  • Work closely with Assistant Controller/Controller on G/L and A/P processes to ensure efficiency and quality of work is meeting expectations.
  • Assist with grant budgets and grant allocations on a monthly basis.

Travel Requirements

Occasionally may travel to other sites to attend meetings or training; occasionally overnight for training.
